The weather gods ignored prestigious Taniwha, Crabstick, drizzling on Waitawheta Camp for the Mount Hash 35th anniversary and 1888 run weekend. But, that did not stop a group of 65 hashers from heartily enjoying themselves.

Read MoreFor only the second time, the Rangitoto Run was postponed, due to foul weather. In fact, Hash was cancelled completely when Cyclone Gabrielle hit. So, the rescheduled Rangitoto run was held a week later. We had 40 registered initially, but this shrank to 30 for the rescheduled date, which covered the cost of the boat. Food and drinks were covered by Auckland Hash. 6 o’clock arrived, and the boat left Westhaven, and out into a tranquil harbour, under a sunny sky. What a difference a week makes. As we reached Rangitoto Wharf the GM announced that the runners’ trail was to the top, then down to Islington bay, with Nellie sweeping. The walkers’ trail was round the side of the mountain, with Hard to Port sweeping. The beloved GM stayed on the boat, nursing a crook foot. Carmen and Gladwrap were working hard in the galley, preparing the tucker. Some of the cruisers got off at Islington, to await the two packs. First runner in, by a country mile, was Bird Table, soon followed by first walker, Boring. The rest of the participants were far behind. It had already got dark, with Maybe, Worm & Nellie still out. The call was made to start hoeing into the tucker, then the tail-enders arrived. Good job done by both sweepers, keeping everybody safe. Great feed of ham, salad, buns – followed by steamed puds for dessert.
The GM then called the erection.
· Demon got everyone to drink to our Hash mates in Napier and Gisborne, who are doing it tough, after the cyclone.
· He then welcomed all Visitors & Returners Boring was straining at the leash to dish out his fines, so we let him let rip:
· Carmen – Didn’t stop the cyclone, but managed well with weather this week
· Mopiko – Gave up his painting to come to Hash
· Hard To Port – Lost glasses
· Loose Change – TV star
· Seal Sucker – Ran to lighthouse
· Old Ram – Expert on Shitting,
· Diarrhoea, Vomiting
· Other Fines: Mopiko – Looks like Gilligan, with his upturned hat (Worm said “What’s Gilligan’s Island?”)
· Maybe – Bent down and farted in Worm’s face
· Hard To Port – Didn’t have a run sorted for next Monday
· Dio & Gladwrap – Great job with the catering
Read MoreA very good turnout for the 2022 Bays Combined Xmas run hosted by Noodles and Sun City
70 or so Hashers turned up from Rotorua, Mount and Sun City to be welcomed by GM Noodles in glorious sunshine on his mates farm. A couple of van loads from both the Mount and Rotorua plus various other motorhomes and vehicles.
Not a long run - less then 4km for the walkers and not much more for the runners. Piss-stop at a woodshed up the track.
Noodles ran the circle and gave out various fines. Visiting GMs were Gnash from the Mount and DT from Wellington Ladies. Perky, Boulder Holder and others from the Mount led the way with downdown songs.
A fantastic array of food , heavily favoring the meat eaters.
Read MoreJust over 60 hashers enjoyed a sunny warm and calm 2000th run from the Haitaitai Community Centre.
Hares K9 and Gatey welcomed the assembled Hashers. All of them either current Hashers in Wellington or ex Hashers from Wellington. The run turned out to be a killer with the trail going down to Evans Bay Parade around the waterfront and then climbing up various steep sets of steps and pathways to the Piss-stop on top of Mt Victoria. All was forgiven there as not a breath of wind was present and there were a multitude of fine beers and wines. Trail home through the bush of Matairangi back to home.
There the Geri’s GM Smash welcomed with fines aplenty. RA’s Spiderman and Knockez ruled the roost. Then Hash Brown and Oggy performed a Waiata and then a Geri’s celebration song loosely based on some famous song. Then drink and food into the night. The weekend sponsored by Waitoa brewery and also by Brewers Droop.

Sunday had 50 % dropout on trails so problem free
Beer - Kingfisher - in 333ml cans so no time for it to ever get warm. They also had bottled G&Ts so people fairly happy.
Bluevain did a Queenstown Interhash 2024 presentation at venue
No Hash acts at all.
And No “official” Downdown competition - Mix up / comedy of errors from Interhash committee.
However there was an unofficial Down Down contest organized by the Worm and Birdtable with Ra MC'ing
They used cut off water bottles for individual "vessels", ladies 3 cans and men 5 cans so Mens downdown, at 1.65litres, smaller than the normal 2 litre vessel.
NZ got 2nd in both ...beaten by the last contestant - America Interhash champ from Alaska beat Birdtable in Ladies, and an Indian guy who beat Xerox in the Mens.
Indian guy win was great for a home win, sadly no trophies for them.
Not quite in order, but a great weekend away at Bay of Islands Holiday Camp in spite of it being mushy and muddy underfoot.
Magic's new campervan gumboots were perfect for the conditions.
Saturday 3pm. The trail had been laid by our hares, Knose and Tight Bolt, once they had shaken out the old damp mildewed flour from the dribble dropper and replaced with new.
Over the road, littlies, biggies and in betweenies. The private road took us up to a check where Dimmer and Little Dimmer branched right looking for trail. "You're going the wrong way" echoed through the now decimated pine forest while the old farts came to a large tree fall. some clambered over, or around, some thought of their expensive prosthetics and elected to turn back and hunt out the P.S.
Trail came to a full stop and those that had ventured, turned back and got passed by the younger and fitter bouncing back.
On our return we spied hashers off trail **?? ^^+! Hadn't they learned. A red shirt (Tight Bolt) , a psychedelic blinding pink shirt (Blackbeard) and a few black shirts Dimmer and Tinnie. Blackbeard seemed to be in the swamp, up to his ears in the bulrushes and toi toi.
Lucky it was a 3pm start. We all got back in daylight and met Screw Loose at his hash mobile where refreshing nectar was produced.
Back to the campsite, a quick shower and we dressed in theme for the evening celebrations.
Tight Bolt as purser of the aircraft was in charge and started the evening off. Awards, non awards, birthdays Screw Looses 71st, and general bonhomie.
Screw Loose and Tight Bolt's family did an outstanding dinner, what a feast. Ham by Shuttle, Lamb, fabulous potato bake. and a 71st cake in chocolate and carrot cake with a brilliant blue icing.
Thanks to Screw Loose and tight Bolt's family for a great weekend.
Little hashers Toby, David and Michael kept us entertained with birthday balloons.
Read MoreOn Monday 22 August a Community memorial service was held at 11 am at the Raglan Town Hall for
Loud (Lord Robert James MacLeod). There was a welcome Karanga/Mihi/Karakia/Wiata.
Guests were then welcomed by Dagy, celebrant for the service. Wellspread gave an excellent eulogy.
Other tributes followed from family, Raglan Community Board, Waikato District Council, Raglan
Volunteer Fire Brigade, Raglan Lions and Dagy for H3. Loud was piped out to the tune Amazing
Grace. Following the service attendees moved across the road for a wake at the Raglan Club where
many memories and tales were told.
On Tuesday 23 August Loud’s memorial hash run set by hare, Humpy, began at 11am at the Raglan
Camp Ground soccer field. A collection of many veteran hashers from around NZ assembled to
accompany Loud on his final hash run. The trail commenced through Raglan Domain, across the Te
Kopua channel via the Papahua footbridge, and continued past places associated to Loud, including
Raglan Volunteer Fire Station for our first check, before continuing to the second at Raglan Town
Hall. The pack slightly diminished as we climbed to view Raglan harbour and bar (the sand bar across
the harbour entrance and not the tavern variety) before descending to navigate the Kaitoke walkway
past Raglan Area School (where the experienced pack provided expert advice to students on how to
slide down a soapy slide). A third check and PS, was made along the walkway with a view over the
inlet to the MacLeod residence. It was On Home to their abode from there. The circle and fines
followed and a few wee drams in tribute were also downed. His casket was placed in a coffin, built
by Short Planks and Dagy, together with the ashes of both his canine mates, Tammy and Maxi, who
had gone before. Also included were the consumed whisky bottle and hash memorabilia including
his mug and MacLeod hash kilt. The signed lid was secured, a nip of very special single malt
Chieftains MacLeod whisky was drunk to his memory and he was laid to rest in the garden under the
avocado tree. A BBQ followed with many memories and tales told. A great send off for a great
hasher.
On On Loud to join that hash pack in the sky.
Read MoreWhat a fantastic weekend with the cosy number of 41ish mostly south islanders known for their hospitality and putting on a bloody good pissup!
Friday night the beer showed up on Emdefs trailer and hashers started dribbling in from the pub crawls down from Christchurch!
Festivities hurriedly began as it usually does with hashmen drinking beer at the keg outside and the Harriet's getting rather shit faced playing drinking games inside! STD our chef rustled up mouse traps to slow down the eventual consequences of such activities.
A tropical light breeze blew known from my hazey childhood memory as a Norwester which blew its arse off for an hour causing a power black out at 9pm "the drinking games continued" a small glitch! so we all thought but the south has a few old macracappa trees that just happen to fall onto power lines.
The next morning still no power! So STDs competent calm manner got Toyboy out of bed in his camper and told him we are using your gas and your BBQ to cook breaky! It was noted Toyboy nearly didn't bring his camper as he was told there was surplus accommodation!
As predicted and there were many predictions over the weekend the rain followed the Norwester and a shit tonne fell overnight leaving the hare to recognize his run plans to a nice gentle amble through farm land past the old homestead and back to the youth camp for the circle and a great lunch prepared yet again without power!
By this time the event organizers were thinking how the fuck were they were going to prepare a main meal on Saturday evening on Toyboys BBQ!
Well south islanders are resilient creatures and RLDs family in Geraldine happen to know Trev who has a neighbor called Trev and a cousin called Derek! So a trailer loaded with a large BBQ and generator turned up at the camp as a contingency! After all this kerfuffle the bloody power goes back on around 2pm much to a sigh of relief from Dingaling and STD!
Can't remember allot about the circle as I was in my cot having a nap after being kept up till 3am singing songs with Daggy on guitar and MiMi pouring dark Sambuccas down my neck! However I did here Daggy in the circle interjecting on more than one occasion!
After the circle the whisky or wiskey club settled in to the end room for a serious session while the rest of us dusted of our hang overs played games in the hall and just having a good chit chat and socializing that we all do so well at in the Hash!
A feast was served by STD and helpers then the theme night began "nursery Rhyme" fancy dress judged by Ding!
Nursery Rhymes theme winners were MiMi as Little Miss Muffet & Pannikin Cider as the Old Man Who Bumped His Head (its raining, its pouring).
NZ GM Bird Table ran the recovery run circle on Sunday with a heap of deserving fines gathered over the wknd! One in particular not to be scribed.
another successful although a liitle stressful Winter Camp for the organisers no covid cases reported and a big THANKYOU!

Read MoreSaturday started well enough, 111 and I caught the train at Baldwin Ave and we picked up others on the way – Loose Change Dio and Bwana for three – and eventually caught up Hacker and Gawd Knows at Swanson. Xerox was up from Rotorua with Tnuc (who’s visiting from Newcastle) and they were staying with The Worm and Bird Table, so we ended up with pretty good numbers – I think we had 17 on the train. Dio had a senior moment at Swanson and discovered he couldn’t tag off on the train using the open-door buttons…… The RSAs Swanson, Henderson and Glen Eden and then to New Lynn where we had lunch at the mall before going to the RSA where we caught up with Captain. Dodgy is the Club President and ran a circle for us. It was here that we caught up with Mighty Mick who is back in Auckland from Orewa. I haven’t seen Mick for years – it is suffice to say that if one’s girth is a measure of happiness then Mick’s had a happy life. It was good to catch up and it would be great to have him back in the pack. China got talked into buying a subscription to the RSA by Dodgy then discovered that the Hash had put on free beer at New Lynn. I wonder why he’s called Dodgy…? We lost a few at New Lynn including Piss on You and it was then on to Avondale where we caught up with Fe Fi. That was the end of the line for Dio and Triple One and I hopped off at Baldwin while the balance went on to Parnell. All in all it was a great day. Thanks Demon for your organization, it looks like this could be annual event
Read MoreA very enjoyable weekend in Picton on the 1st Aotearoa Matariki weekend, organised by Thirsty Thursday Taniwha Hash of Wellington and attended by around 60 Hashers.
The weekend kicked off Thursday in Wellington with the regular TTT run where the pack was greatly bolstered by the North Island Hashers in town for the ferry early Friday. Starting at the Welsh Dragon Bar, a small pack set off for a pleasant stroll round the Wellington waterfront to meet up with the out of towners at the Piss-stop in the Civic centre. From there it was another short walk to a mid city bar where Dio from Auckland distinguished himself by over jealous bartender assistance.
Friday was the 8.30am ferry sailed and a Ditch run on board. Nice calm sailing and at Picton the Hash were led on a short live trail by RV to a park on the waterfront. No show from the Nelson (still on way) and Christchurch (testing out guitars at accommodation) hashers but the pack were entertained by a lesson on Matariki from Kaumatau Hash Brown from Wellington, before a short circle.
Next on the days proceedings was a Hash run hosted by Wellington Ladies at 3pm to celebrate Matriarch Chips’s 1800th run. Hares One Pint and DT. This was planned to lead into RV’s planned pub crawl at 4.30pm. However like many a Hash event incompetent helpers impacted on the plans and so the pub crawl did not keep to schedule, although about 40 hashers enjoyed a splendidly cunning trail and Piss-stop by the mini putt.
It was each Hasher to their own choices in the evening, but a great evening was had at the Thirsty Pig Tavern where the one man band had the Hash dancing all night. Dancers led by Birdtable and Cisko Kid.
The main Saturday Run kicked off at 11am at Endeavor Park. A nice long trail set by RV and Panicking Cider – around 8-10km mostly in the bush. A wet day but the bush provided some shelter. Piss-stop on the ridgeline with snacks and drinks.
Hash circle under shelter of Pine trees. TTT members RV, Handle, JJ, Fraggle, Panicking and Corpuscle honoured for various permeations of the number 3 which is their magic number. More history of TTT from RV and then the circle was handed on to NZGM Birdtable and finally fines from the forest floor.
The evening saw various pockets of Hashes in pubs and restaurants round town.
Sunday was the Recovery run which started a the skate park and then to Firkin’s retreat for a PS. Arson (son of the late Firkin) outlined the plan for this Hash retreat in honour of his Dad.
Glorious day and so to the Ferry for return sailing and one last Ditch run.
Aftermath was a number of Hashers testing positive for Covid. Hopefully they all recovered.
Thanks to TTT for an enjoyable weekend. The main workers seemed to be RV and Panicking from TTT with assistance from Omo (driver) and High Heels (shopping)
