A quick run down from the Christmas run
It was a home run at Omo’s out the Hutt. Hares were Mini muff and our GM Cisko Kid. A moderate length trail. About 20 + walkers and 6 or so runners. About 4km for the walkers, another 3km for runners loop. Piss stop bit over halfway. Drinks, chippies at Trafalgar Park. Luckily the territory surrounding Omo’s is all flat, unlike most of the rest of the Wellington region. So a nice leisurely stroll for the walkers. Wider afield for the runners led by young gun H2, with the older brigade such as his dad Right, 1pint, Corpuscle, Dr Lap Sap and Gatey trailing in his wake.
Back at the ranch it was a great spread of food and a rousing fines session led by GM Lunar with lots of fines from the floor and finally the weekly award - the Body to IQ20 . We were lucky with the weather – cold showery earlier in the day gave way to calm , dry.
Wednesday is a tricky day this year with Xmas eve this week and New Years eve next. The IQ family traditionally do a big post New Years day run at their holiday home up the Kapiti Coast at Peka Peka so this year it will be New Years Eve.
Special mention to Eclipse, who is about 2 weeks into a new knee, and who limped around (the house) on her crutches.

Run # 2546 – Xmas Run - Omo’s shack!
The 12 9 days of Christmas, yes, Santas sledge is being loaded up with all the pressies for those good little people (probably not you) and the Wellington Ladies are having another Xmas party (and them there parties have gotta be the first prize).
The Xmas party always attracts a good number of seasonal worshipers and this year there were 30 (sampling the sumptuous fare – Yes, OMO, I’m giving you a shout out) braving the somewhat inclement weather for an appropriate short run for the runners and walkers alike.
WLH3 were also honoured by the NZGM (GATECRASHER)– doing his 5th of seven Xmas bashes this year – who eloquently thanked the hash for his expected hang over – until he rose again to attend the Taniwha Chrissy bash the next day with both RV & HIGH HEELS.
Pre-exiting the ranch slider I was treated to a rendition of what’s good [sic] about the education system in NZ – thanks DOWNTHERE I learnt a lot (about what’s not).
The trail was set by CISKO & MINI MUFF who, by all accounts, did a sterling job. Post the obligatory photo opportunity, the green leprechaun and the GM gave us the amble instructions (mentioning that there would be a piss stop, that there was one runners/walkers spilt – after the piss stop, and only a few checks (3) for the 2-3 kilometre saunter). See I was listening – a bit!
The runners were off (led by DR LAP SAP, SALVADORE [sp], H2 & CORPUS-L), thinking that they would be first to the piss stop. The walkers trudging behind them – chatting about the exciting Christmas / New Year period coming up (UNSTABLE waxing lyrically about the weather in Dunas, BS trying desperately to find a short cut and CRUISER, DINKY & AZMUD missing their dogs).
However, not to be out done, us shortcutters (BUSHY, SHRUB (name still to be confirmed), MISTRESS and SUNBEAM) went straight to the objective. The piss stop. It has been a while since we have had one of those but fortunately all remembered what to do there. Imbibe! The runners were first to the piss stop – even if RIGHT did have to go back to find the rest of the pack – clearly 1 PINT was dragging them down. The walkers were last in, a bedraggled bunch – and it wasn’t even raining – resplendent in their red, white & green! AZMUD was very fetching in her Cat in the hat, hat, and CHIPS resplendent as a cowgirl in a Stetson and 40-year-old sweatshirt (sorry SUNBEAM your 12-year-old Stetson doesn’t match up!)
There were two momentous milestones tonight, ECLISPE eclipsed 199 (even if she was slightly incapacitated) and REAL DEAL who surpassed 499. Well done those two. With TINKLES in her fish net stocking, I wonder what REAL DEAL is in for tonite? Speaking of attire my twin (DT) and I were dressed alike warm track pants, white (ish) cargo shorts and black tops. Because DT didn’t get the memo [teehee], for this fashion faux pas we were fined
Finally, if you are looking at
· Being at the run on the 24th December – tell RIGHT so he can work out a convenient venue.
· Being at Pekapeka for the run on the 31st December then please tell JABBERWOCKY for catering purposes. (Note that this run starts at 11am from CHIPS abode at 12 Kaitawa Street, Waikanae Beach – her last hurrah as she is moving on).
